Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2022

Really? Here again already? It always seems to feel like that at the end of each year, but I think this time it is that little bit extra special. 2022 marks the first time in three years we’ve lived somewhat normal lives, and this is of course the first Christmas since 2019 where we’ve been able to enjoy it with our friends and families without the fear of an impending lockdown. This time around I’m seeing some friends I haven’t seen since before the pandemic and I’m sure that’s the case for many people.

A curious number of Christmas market stands were selling these decorative plates. If anyone knows more about the origins of this type of crockery then do let me know in the comments. 1/800s 50mm F1.8 Kodak T-Max P3200 Nikon F100.

There’s plenty of sweet treats for sale this time of year. 1/400s 50mm F1.8 Kodak T-Max P3200 Nikon F100.

For me the most exciting aspect of 2022 is that I finally got to work a full, normal twelve months as a photographer, having started out full time during the pandemic. Just as I had hoped, work has really ramped up during that time as I’ve not only been able to work more, but crucially network and quite simply find more to work on. I feel my film photography has also really progressed, branching out into new formats, and trying out different cameras, which means I’ve got a lot more content for this blog to write about in 2023. Much more than I had originally anticipated. Next week will be a festive wrap up and test of a brand new film stock to me, CineStill 800T, one that has become extremely popular among night time street photographers. Then heading into the New Year, I will be kicking off a series of blogs that will document my October trip through Berlin and Poland in both film and digital.

Some places go all out with their festive decorations. 1/50s 50mm F1.8 Kodak T-Max P3200 Nikon F100.

Film and music buffs had plenty to look over at this market stand. 1/640s 50mm F1.8 Kodak T-Max P3200 Nikon F100.

There’s a lot to be merry for this year and I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year. With all that has been going on, I think we all thoroughly deserve it. I’ve sprinkled in a few Christmassy shots taken on Kodak P3200 to keep stoking those festive vibes. Though I am really hoping my latest run of slide film will turn up in the post very soon. Fingers crossed.

Some decorations move from the traditional to the abstract and downright creative. 1/125s 50mm F1.8 Kodak T-Max P3200 Nikon F100.
